Erythema nodosum

It manifests as bilateral/symmetrical painful erythematous nodules, usually located in the pretibial region (less frequently: heel, thighs, forearms). They are self-limiting (1-6 weeks) with involution similar to a hematoma. They heal without ulceration, scarring or atrophy. Lesions may coexist at different stages of evolution and recurrences are common. It is often accompanied by systemic symptoms (fever, general malaise, headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, cough, adenopathy, weight loss, arthralgia).
